Steel Preparation

Steel as a material when subjected to environmental conditions - such as sea water, oil, and even the weather - needs routine maintenance to protect it against oxidation and contaminants that could in time cause it to fail.

SPE Australia have undertaken numerous steel based projects where surface contaminants and failed coatings need to be removed prior to a new surface coating application.

We are renowned for our reliability in preparation of oils and storage tanks involving the use of horizontal captive blasting techniques.  But we are also equally at home in preparation of ship hulls and decks, steel bridge decks and walkways, heli-decks, oil rig platforms - in fact almost any application that utilises horizontal steel surfaces.

Typical steel preparation tasks include:

  • Corrosion removal
  • Removal of failed coatings
  •
Non-skid removal
  •
